The Little Mermaid Theme Party

The Little Mermaid Theme Party

Hire a Mermaid Character! www.AFairytaleComeTrue.com

First off I made this super cute invitation.  I just love this little mermaid… isn’t she cute?   If you would like to use this invite and want the watermark free vector or psd files let me know at bubblynature (at) gmail (dot) com.  I have different prices for personal and commercial use so let me know which option that you would like.   I also have just the mermaid in case you want to build your own invites or other party decor with the mermaid… so just let me know what you would like and I can give you the prices!

When the girls arrived at the party they were greeted with bubbles and balloons! So fun!Now for the wave CAKE!  Yes, I made this myself.  I was inspired by the Ombre Ruffle Cake that Kim from the Tom Kat Studio used for her daughter’s Mermaid Party.  I followed the Ruffle Cake Tutorial from Bubble and Sweet.  It was not easy, but something that an intermediate cake decorator could handle… maybe a beginner if you give yourself a good day to do it!    The starfish is from Hobby Lobby… they didn’t have any white starfish when I went, but I painted it white with a pearlized white acrylic paint.   I added sand dollars from Hobby Lobby and sea shells from the Dollar Tree.

Cinderella Theme Birthday Party

Cinderella Theme Birthday Party

"When the guests arrived-we transformed them into princesses-make up, hair up do’s, sparkly spray and all the girls dressed up in a princess dress. We had crowns, necklaces, rings, and bracelets for each little princess.
We decorated crowns that I got at Ariel’s Grotto in Disneyland, played Freeze dance during our “Ball” and danced to princess music. We also played pin the lips on the frog. The party favors were princess coloring books and crayons.
For the Tea Party, we had mini horderves-mini heart jello jigglers, fancy crackers and cheese, mini crescent rolls, a veggie and fruit tray, mini cookies, princess cupcakes and pink punch.
The girls loved the tea party-they sure acted like little ladies-so prim and proper in their princess attire."

Vintage Inspired Princess Parties

Vintage Inspired Princess Parties

FIRST, there’s the obvious: it’s ridiculously adorable and definitely looks like a fairytale! Let’s start with the dreamy cupcake toppers, shall we: frog prince, castle, glass slipper, storybook, princess wand… all the key players! And then of course there’s the fabulous graphics, the special story time setting, the “Royal Ball” (pink bouncy balls), and much more.

Everyone seems to be smitten with the Royal Wedding these days, but when it comes to moms and their daughters, there are actually “royal princesses” running around all the time!

– There can be stations of fun. Sweets station, an area to lounge in and read Princess books with your favorite Princesses, and an area to write your own fairytale!
– Frog Prince pillows
– Stations: Royal Ball (balls), a Reading area to read fairytales and snuggle up with a Princess.  Tea time table, a drink station with fun names like “Mystical Water” and “Snow White Apple Cider”
– Oh, and don’t forget the real-life princess to play with the guests! www.AFairytaleComeTrue.com

Princess Party Ideas

There are many other helpful party supplies like princess wall decals.  Imagine sticking decorations on your walls...and these are easy to apply and easy to remove...you can make it look like the Disney Princesses have come to your party, or make your party room look like a castle.  Then plan a fun princess game using a Castle pinata.  Other games, like Evil Queen Freeze Dance or Musical Thrones, will keep your party moving along at a fun pace, and princess game prizes can include fun temporary princess tattoos or stickers.   Don't forget the princess party songs either.  Have a sing-a-long, a royal game of Karaoke or use the songs for your musical games...party songs are the perfect musical accessory to your party plans.

You can find free printable princess coloring pages to use as a fun party activity and you can also find a coloring castle...it's a cardboard castle that your party guests can color themselves.  There are even princess coloring stand ups.  Let your party guests color a stand up Cinderella...its a unique and fun girls party activity.  And you become known as the coolest mom on the block for finding all this great girls party stuff.

Five key questions when planning kids' party food

5 key questions when you're planning kids' party food

1. The time of the party?
If you've been generous enough to have scheduled your party to spread over or run into anything approaching lunchtime or teatime, then you'll need to put on a decent spread. If you've cannily timed your party for the early morning or early afternoon, however, you can probably get away with drinks and a few snacks – but do make sure the kids' parents know what you're planning.
2. The age of the kids?
The official ratio of healthy party food to sugary junk food changes exponentially with each year of age. So, while a birthday tea for babies or toddlers should include several nods to the existence of vegetables, there's absolutely no point whipping up anything too worthy if your party guests are over the age of five...
3. The number of children coming?
Generally speaking, the more children you invite, the less complicated your birthday tea needs to be. Burger and chips for five is do-able; burger and chips for 25, is absolutely not. A rough rule of thumb oft-quoted on Mumsnet is to invite the same number of children as candles on the cake. (Of course, if there are 30 kids in the class this can be wishful thinking).
4. The party venue?
If you're having the party at home, you may be able to sit everyone at a table - meaning you can serve the food on plates and get everyone to pass things round in a civilised way. But, if space is limited, you may have to spread a tablecloth on the floor and produce a birthday 'picnic', in which case dividing the food up into individual food boxes can save on mess and washing-up, and ensure nobody hogs more than their fair share of Twiglets.
If you're having the party away from home (in the park, for example, or at a hired venue), food boxes or pizza delivery boxes really are the way to go. Unless, of course, the venue comes with party food as part of the deal, in which case you can gratefully abdicate responsibility for everything except, of course, the birthday cake.

Princess Crown Ideas

Ask the girls-in-waiting to come decked out in pink or dress like their favorite princess. When they arrive, offer matching accessories such as costume jewelry, tiaras, wands, boas, and silky slippers.

Princess Crown Ideas:

Pipe Cleaner Crown: Each crown requires approximately 10 pipe cleaners. Shape each of the pieces shown below from its own pipe cleaner, trimming as needed. Twist each of the pieces together to secure and create the crown shape.

Princess Party Invitations

Princess Party Invitations

All of your guest will get the idea of your party by the invitation that you send out. If you make invitations you could get some white card stock paper, maybe cut out the shape of a crown, then have your princess decorate it how she wants, or you decorate it with so foam cutouts or some fake jewel embellishments. Now when you are writing in the information don't forget to write that the party is for Princess and your daughters name. Now with the guest just seeing your invitations they know you are throwing a Princess Party.

  • More Tips:Creative invitations can build excitement and set the mood for your princess birthday party before it even starts! If you have the time to make your own, here are a few ideas you can try:
  • Fold a sheet of construction paper or card stock in half to create a card-style invitation. Print out a picture of your little girl's favorite princess - such as Jasmine or Snow White - and paste it to the front. Write the words "You're Invited" next to the picture. Include all the party details on the inside.
  • Cut the shape of a tiara out of card stock. Run a glue stick around the outside edges and sprinkle pink glitter on top. Write all the party details within the glitter border.
  • Punch a hole in the corner of a card-style invitation and tie it to a princess wand. Hand-deliver each guest's invitation.
  • Pick up some princess-themed die cuts, such as a horse and carriage, a glass slipper, a castle, or princess dresses, at your local scrapbook store. These die cuts can easily turn a plain card into an elegant invite.
  • Mail card-style invitations in padded envelopes and include a few pieces of costume jewelry or a ring pop inside.
